New Directions In International Economic Law Essays In Honour Of John H Jackson

by John Jackson, New Directions In International Economic Law Essays In Honour Of John H Jackson Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download New Directions In International Economic Law Essays In Honour Of John H Jackson book, This book was occasioned by the 30-year anniversary of the appearance of Professor John H. Jackson's remarkable book, World Trade and the Law of GATT, which pioneered the new academic discipline of international trade law. Professor Jackson's approach has been unique in its emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach, which places the subject in its proper context--by examining international trade law not only in relation to economic considerations but by broadening it to include wider societal concerns such as environmental, national security, human rights, and labour standards issues. Accordingly this book, in Professor Jackson's honour, reflects his role as a forerunner of the law of globalization, addressing in particular the links between trade law and public international law, and the connections between trade and other societal concerns. The book is divided into five sections, dealing with: constitutional issues; substantive issues for the WTO; dispute settlement in the context of the WTO; new subjects relating to the WTO system including trade and labour; trade and competition, trade and investment, bribery and corruption, and domestic issues for WTO member countries. After a long and distinguished career at the Law School of the University of Michigan, Professor Jackson joined the faculty of Georgetown University in 1998, as University Professor.

New Directions In Comparative Law

by Antonina Bakardjieva Engelbrekt, New Directions In Comparative Law Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download New Directions In Comparative Law book, This in-depth book explores the changing role of comparative law in an era of Europeanisation and globalisation. It explains how national law coexists and interacts with supranational and international law and how legal rules are produced by a variety of institutions alongside and beyond the nation-state. The book combines both theoretical and practically oriented contributions in the areas of law and development, comparative constitutional law, as well as comparative private and economic law. It offers a plurality of perspectives on the theory and methods of comparative law as a legal discipline, but also on comparative law when concretely applied in projects of legal aid, harmonisation of law and legal reform. Offering a multi-disciplinary perspective, this book will appeal to researchers and policymakers in international organisations. It will also serve as a valuable resource for advanced level courses on comparative law, and on law reform and legal aid.

China In The New International Economic Order

by Lisa Toohey, China In The New International Economic Order Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download China In The New International Economic Order book, "The enormous economic power of the People's Republic of China makes it one of the most important actors in the international system. Since China's accession to the World Trade Organization in 2001, all fields of international economic law have been impacted by greater Chinese participation. Now, just over one decade later, the question remains as to whether China's unique characteristics make its engagement fundamentally different from that of other players. In this volume, well-known scholars from outside China consider the country's approach to international economic law. In addition to the usual foci of trade and investment, the authors also consider monetary law, finance, competition law, and intellectual property. What emerges is a rare portrait of China's strategy across the full spectrum of international economic activity."--
